The technology acceptance model fosters personal growth, leadership, and opportunities in technology, innovation, design, and engineering. Members apply and integrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics concepts through co-curricular activities, competitive events and related programs. The Illinois Technology Student Association (IL-TSA) was chartered in 1978 and is one of the oldest Career and Technical Education student chapters in the world. Illinois TSA is a non-profit student organization devoted to teaching technology education to young people.

TSA members raise money to help fund research, education, advocacy and patient services provided by the ACS, and the ACS presents Spirit of Service awards to chapters that participated in fundraising. TSA VEX Robotics Competition – An engaging robotics competition in which students further their knowledge and skills in STEM areas. Army Educational Outreach Program, that empowers teachers, mentors, and community members to engage 5th – 8th grade youth in designing, building, and racing model solar cars.

  • In many events, semi-finalists move onto a second round of competition which usually involves an interview with the judges about the project.

Over 250,000 middle and high school students nationwide aspire to be future engineers, scientists and technologists through the technology news. Today, the association has grown to include more than 250,000 members in more than 2,300 secondary schools across 48 states. It has established an Honor Society, manages numerous competitive events and has partnerships with several organizations. Since TSA was chartered in 1978, more than five million students have participated as members. Members learn to cooperate in order to obtain quality results in individual and chapter activities and projects. Members develop the ability to plan, organize, and carry out worthy projects in the fields of social development, civic consciousness, scholastic motivation, and community involvement.

  • TSA provides rules and guidelines to its student members and advisors for thirty-two middle school level and thirty-three high school level competitive events.
  • Relating class activities to local, regional, state and national competitive events can be highly motivational for students.
  • There is a Leadership conference in the fall for students interested in becoming an officer, a one-day local district competition in the Winter, the main state competition in Spring, and the national competition in the summer.
  • Our members are interested in careers in Architecture, Engineering, Robotics, Construction, Manufacturing, Film/Video Production, Graphic Arts, and many other technical areas.
  • TSA aims to develop leadership, academic, and business management skills in the workplace among students and leaders within the community.

Since TSA was chartered in 1978, over 5,000,000 members have participated through competitions, intracurricular activities, leadership opportunities, and community service. IL-TSA is the only CTE student organization dedicated exclusively to students enrolled in technology education classes grades K-12. The Technology Education Association of Illinois is a proud sponsor of Illinois TSA and gives technology definition annually to the association. UNITE – A four to six week summer program that encourages high school students to pursue engineering careers, is funded by the U.S. Through hands-on activities and team-based learning students explore the connections between math, science and real-world applications.
